Qualifications

  • Philosophy with Honours – University of Edinburgh, 2011 – 2015
  • PGCE in Physical Education – University of Buckingham, St Catherine’s School, Sydney, 2016 – 2017
  • Sport and Exercise Science and Medicine – University of Glasgow, 2021 – present

Hailing from Edinburgh, Scotland, in addition to her coaching qualifications, Nicola is a qualified Kindergarten to Year 12 PE teacher, and is currently studying a Bachelor of Sports and Exercise Medicine. She has an extensive coaching history, having worked with grade Rugby Union, League and hockey teams as well as running squads. Taking what she learnt from these teams, as well as her own harrowing injury experience resulting in a full ankle reconstruction, she has since been working hard to expand her knowledge into developing extensive prehab programs.

During the multiple, extended Melbourne lockdowns, she managed to entirely pivot her business, transitioning to outdoor sessions while maintaining structured, periodised programs designed to fulfil her clients goals and improve their mental conditioning. Nicola also offered furloughed workers the chance to train free of charge, with the value of movement for those struggling not lost on Nicola.

Nicola’s attentive and enthusiastic coaching style, coupled with her sincere joy in seeing clients overcome their challenges makes her an obvious choice to head the 98 Melbourne team; her mantra of “always compete” fitting in with the performance based ethos of 98; never be complacent. Work, compete to be the best you can possibly be.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of business, Majoring in Finance
  • Certificate 3 & 4 In Fitness
  • Coaching since 2015

Jarron grew up Hobart before moving to Bangkok, but was always involved in team sports, understanding the value they added to both his social connections and satiating his competitive nature.

Jarron was raised to be physically active for pleasure but also to be ready to perform when sport demanded it. Jarron’s remarkable athletic ability was developed throughout his junior football career, at 15 receiving a scholarship to the Tasmanian Institute of Sport. A year later he was scouted and requested to trial for the state squad for AFL. While enjoying his on field practice, Jarron found a passion in his off field training in the gym.

Jarron has coached both across Australia & in Thailand for seven years, gaining broad experience of the varied demands of coaching. Despite his lengthly athletic career Jarron is one of the few in his field who has not had to adjust his training for injury. He attributes this to his coaching methodology of emphasis on technique, intricate understanding of loading and prioritising warm ups and accessory work.

Jarron’s drive to continue to achieve more and never be complacent is what 98 endeavours to foster within all members and clients; Jarron is leading from the front.
